Jon Polansky, Alan Gillespie and I were on the site investigating the potential that there may be a marker to note the February-November cross quarter. This is the display we discovered.
The circle is bisected by sun and shadow when the solar disk is touching the horizon. Because the sun and earth are in constant motion, an obvious specific event must be added so that the timing is proper. It is Native American tradition that the touching of the sun disk and the horizon is important. Now we know why.
